5 stars are not enough !

Once in a while you find somewhere that is extra special and the Hotel Botanico was certainly that. For us the hotel was a gem and we can't wait to go back.Traditional elegance internally with a lot of paintings and objet de art. Then outside you have not one but two large tropical garden areas surrounding swimming pools. One of them is in the spa area with no under 16s allowed,though children are allowed in the main pool area, best of both worlds. Restaurant wise, a pool bar serves snacks up to 5pm and for dinner a choice of Italian served on a delightful roof terrace, traditional Spanish and a Thai, all good quality but not for those on tight budgets. If you want a change from the hotel there are half a dozen different restaurants within a few minutes walk from the front door and in the town centre where there is a huge choice of restaurants which is only a 4 euro cab ride away. The spa puts on free activities ranging from Tai Chi, Yoga to Latin style dance workouts on a daily basis, which were great to try as well as the usual type of spa massages and therapies where the usual fee is payable.The spa was an absolute gem, styled on an oriental theme. However it was the staff who warrant a 6 stars rating . Nothing was ever too much trouble , with service standards and friendliness as good as anything we have ever experienced,without too much over the top formality.A week was not long enough and we can't wait to return.
