Luxurious and Relaxing

The comforts afforded by this hotel are beyond compare (for the price range, I assume). You don't need to leave the hotel. The grounds are delightful, and parakeets and butterflies add a tropical dimension. There are huge Koi carp, black swans and terrapins in the ponds. It is a beautiful space, well maintained. The staff are charming. Everyone says "hello", and you get the impression that people are happy to work at the hotel, and that a good few have been there a number of years. We stayed bed and breakfast. We had a great view of Teide from our room. Breakfasts were outstanding, and the 'egg man' who cooked bespoke fried eggs, poached eggs, crepes and omelettes provided an object lesson in multi- tasking. Everything one could wish for was available at breakfast. Puerto de la Cruz is a picturesque and enjoyable resort, with decent food, and it provides easy access to the Teide National Park, the Anaga mountains, the Teno massif, and colonial towns such as La Orotava and La Laguna, so long as you hire a car. We had a very relaxing day accessing the complimentary spa facilities. Our flight home was very late. We had use of the room on our last day until 20:00 for €75, including a delicious lunch for two. When Thomson messed up on our transfers to Tenerife Sur Airport, late on Sunday evening, the hotel arranged to take us to the airport free of charge, and at no notice. Sheer class, and we would return to Hotel Botanico in an instant. Thanks to all. Great maid service too. Missing the place already, 24 hours on.
