A great experience ...

This is a excellent hotel - had a wonderful stay here in October 2015. Best Bits: Staff - very helpful, hardworking and kind. I would sincerely like to thank them all for helping to make a lovely holiday. Breakfast - excellent and with a lot of choice - again the staff worked very hard to make sure everything was stocked. Spa - Brilliant place to go, even if the weather was not great. Heated indoor pool and saunas. Great warm 'flotation' beds and the best bit that it was a child-free zone without shouty aquarobics! Rooms - Nice and clean, quite spacious and well appointed. Hotel itself - nice and clean, interesting collection of artwork - which is well worth a look. The gardens and koi ponds are beautiful and well-maintained Food - apart from the breakfast we ate at the hotel just twice in the evening at the Oriental and the Spanish. The food was good, but expensive for what we got - there are some excellent restaurants locally. We would advise people to head out and try Puerto de la Cruz for evening meals or just walk up the road and try Oliva or one of the other establishments. Bar - we had a few drinks at the bar. Again you are paying high costs because there is a separate waiter who brings you your drink and each drink comes with a little plate of nibbles - a nice touch, but it does mean that drinks are a bit pricey. That being said the bartender makes a great Cosmopolitan which was worth every penny! Entertainment - There is a little putting green golf course, which was great fun. Tennis available too. The evening entertainment was a bit hit-and-miss (but that is always the same in every hotel) Really enjoyed the Canarian group singing and dancing to traditional songs. Overall we had an excellent stay. The hotel does have a air of old-fashioned gentility and calm. If there is one niggle it is that the decor could do with an update - especially the bar/lounge area - a lot of the furniture has seen better days and could do with a refurbishment and a lick of paint wouldn't hurt. We would definitely recommend for couples looking for a relaxed holiday and would go back in a heartbeat.
