Hotel Botánico (2941)

Last minute booking

We stayed for 1 week booking only 2 weeks before departure with Thompson, flying from Luton. The price seemed very good for bed and breakfast. The flight was O.K but I would have preferred the seats with extra legroom ( they were all booked) .We went at the beginning of October and there were lots of young children on the flight. After a private transfer taking just over 1 hour we arrived at the hotel, our luggage was taken to the room and we were offered a free fruit cocktail. The room was average size with a balcony. The wardrobe was mirrored, and the bathroom also had extensive mirrors. There was a shower over the bath which could cause problems for the less mobile. The hairdryer was in the bathroom and of the variety that barely dried your hair and was no use for styling. We also had a magnifying mirror but it had no light. Breakfast offered a huge choice, almost anything you wanted was available. At the weekend they also had sparkling wine. Usually by the time we returned to our room the room had been serviced. English and German daily papers were available to read in the library/ snooker room from 10.30 onwards. The room was provided with free bottled water in the afternoon, and serviced again at night and chocolate left. The pools were clean and warm and towels and soft mattresses and umbrellas quickly brought to you by pool staff. Bar staff served drinks and brought free fruit kebabs on hot days. All drinks came with free nuts and bites. Most evenings at 6pm there was the opportunity to mix with fellow guests at a free drinks event ( cocktails/ wine tasting/ sangria)Dressing was smart casual and most guests were British or German with a few Russians and French. We only ate in one of the restaurants once, the food was good but not exceptional. The restaurants in town offered more choice. A free minibus went to and from the town, but we did not use it. The walk to town was not that long and mostly downhill and a taxi back with tip was only 5 euros I am not a spa person, but did enjoy the spa circuit of steam rooms, ice room and aromatherapy room followed by pool, jacuzzi and waterbed all free for residents. The bar had a small group every evening (different each night) and some guests enjoyed taking to the floor for a dance. Cocktails were about 7 euros. For some reason staying at this hotel reminded me of being on a cruise, I think because it was so relaxing and the staff so friendly and helpful.
