Thoroughly enjoyable holiday

An excellent hotel - impeccable, friendly service from all members of staff; comfortable, well appointed rooms, beautiful, well maintained gardens, swimming pools and spa. The quality and range of food at breakfast didn't disappoint. There's even cava to start the day with Buck's fizz at the weekends and if it's a special occasion, staff magically appear with glasses of fizz. To be wished a happy birthday before even stepping into the restaurant was slick and reinforced that this really is a 5 star hotel. Little touches such as the complimentary bottle and delicious chocolate cake in the room on my birthday, together with the rose and truffles, did make a difference. There's a bowl of fresh fruit on arrival and bottled water is replenished daily. We do, however, miss the opportunity to make tea and coffee in the room but appreciate that it's not common to find this facility in Spain. The only other minor gripe is the qualty of coffee at breakfast. It's not good at all. There is a machine as an alternative but on the one day I used it, it was awful! The weather was glorious throughout the week when we stayed and we spent most of our time relaxing, reading and swimming. We also visited the botanic garden close by - recommended! As vegetarians, we didn't find much to suit us in the three hotel restaurants and therefore ate out so can't comment on the quality of evening meals. Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel for a mid winter break where the glow of the sunshine is more than matched by the warmth of the welcome. We met so many people who return year after year and we will also definitely be back!
