Standards slightly slipping

So my 10th trip to the Botanico and it was ok Reception staff were excellent and Toni was magnificent in arranging a doctor after I urgently needed one Herrera is brilliant at breakfast - efficient polite and runs the room very well - as other people have said the breakfast itself is amazing and a superb choice. The rooms clean spacious but a bit jaded - even the parrot pictures have started to fade. It is always best to ask for a separate shower as these are the most updated - I'm assuming the management will be updating the other rooms in due course. The spa is stunning and the treatments amazing if a little pricey / I also recommend the hair salon - and especially Rosie who is brilliant. The bar staff are good though very overworked - a special mention to Pedro who's English, politeness and attention to detail are a huge asset to the team - also a mention to Tania Fran and Marie Cruz The evening entertainment was much better however the last time I was here there was an amazing cocktail waiter who travelled to the hotel to do an amazing gin and tonic demonstration - he wasn't here this time but Jose Luis made a simple cocktail which was acceptable - please get the cocktail waiter back he should be a regular fixture I'm sure it would go down well with all the guests Now the downside For a 5 star hotel 1star wifi is not acceptable it hardly ever worked in my room and in the main areas it was intermittent - it's something they really need to invest in and should be an essential ! The pool area is now looking very tired the paving slabs and sun loungers need replacing - I know it will need considerable disruption and investment but it needs to be brought up to a standard to ensure its leading hotel of the world group The hotel us lovely and has an old world charm but it just needs updating to face the challenges of a younger moser clientele that will be using the hotel in the future It's definitely recommended
