Peaceful Paradise

From the welcome drink at a arrival to the smooth check-out, staying here was a great option. If you really want to relax and be pampered then this is the place to come. The room was well appointed, we had BBC 1 & 2 and ITV 1 on the TV which was nice. No tea and coffee making facilities though I believe that you could ask for that. The room was "turned down" every night with a chocolate provided. All staff very nice and very helpful on the front desk helping to arrange excursions. The spa is great, especially when the weather is a bit overcast- which it was during our stay- the north is cloudy. I had a massage though and that was a bit disappointing because the therapist did not ask how I would like the pressure- consequently I found it too light. Also, another therapist came into the room mid-session! There was quite a few things going on in the hotel, like cheese tasting, wine tasting, demonstration on how to make paella. There was also some exercise classes like Tai Chi, yoga and pilates. The hotel definitely seems to cater to and appeal to the older clientele. If you want a lively party then this probably isn't the place. There was entertainment in the bar area every evening, normally a keyboard player and singing playing lots of cheesy music! The cocktails at the bar were good and well priced. Can't comment too much on the food as didn't dine in any of the restaurants. The breakfast was wonderful though- breads, pastries, jams, cereals, hot food, small canapes, fruit, yoghurt, juice, smoothies. There was even roasted salmon on a couple of mornings. The hotel is set is well maintained gorgeous grounds. At this time of year it seemed just the right amount of people too, as the pool areas seemed to get quite busy. The location is a little out of the main town but there are some nice restaurants and a few shops nearby. The area is very hilly, so you may want to take advantage of the free shuttle service. The hotel seem to go out of their way to make your stay special. Thanks to Hotel Botanico for a lovely stay. I hope to return one day.
