A lovely five star hotel

I thoroughly enjoyed my week long stay at the Hotel Botanico with my partner. The hotel's reception staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us - from booking cable car tickets to giving us bus timetables. The facilities are excellent. We were unlucky enough to have grey skies for a few days and the excellent spa (included in the price) was a godsend. There are also plenty of communal areas and beautiful manicured grounds with ponds stocked full of stunning koi carp. The hotel is situated at the top of a hill - so it's a nice downhill walk into town (15-20 minutes to the seafront) in the evening for a few beers. We always got a cab back in the evening, which was not expensive at all - under 4 euros from memory. I wouldn't have wanted to be in the main tourist drag. The wifi was good, the room was lovely and very well cleaned (we were on the fourth floor). There was a mini bar, safe and a large bed that was at least super king size. As someone without children, I liked the fact that the clientele was generally 50+, because we only saw a handful of children in the hotel throughout our stay (no screaming tantrums around the pool, other than mine). Of course, this did mean that things were generally more sedate in the evenings. I would certainly stay here again.
