great hotel

This is a great hotel. Management has just gotten it so right. Staff are competent and friendly. Warm to the guests and each other. Any minor mistake or oversight was corrected quickly and cheerfully. They went out of their way to find us what we needed, restaurant reservations and suggestions, car hire, driver/tour guide etc. We had a family room which is basically 2 connected doubles. Both with terraces overlooking the village and ocean. Very comfortable, traditional rooms that met all of our needs. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is great, the spa and thermal circuit (16 and over) are great. We had many massages, all different but good. Make sure to tell them how much pressure you want before you start. The food at breakfast is fresh and plentiful. No queues and plenty of space for all. We ate at the Oriental restaurant which was excellent. The Italian wasn't as good but there is excellent Italian food in town. The pool bar food was very good for lunch. This hotel is on the north side of the island, far from the parties of the southern beaches. Families and couples mostly; definitely not a singles or party scene. Puero de la Cruz is a lovely little town with very good restaurants and shops. The hotel has a shuttle bus during the day or about a 6 euro cab ride at night if you don't have a car. We ate at Regulo and La Rosa di Bari among others. All were very good. Worth a trip to Terrazas del Sauzal for lunch or drinks on the terrace.
