A wonderful hotel for a spring escape

We have recently returned from a ten day break at Hotel Botanico and would thoroughly recommend it. Whilst the building is a little 1960s from the outside inside it is right up to date with lovely public rooms, a superb garden and first class hotel facilities. The weather was glorious for our stay so we spend long hours by the outside pool (V. generous in size) lots of sun loungers and all well served by the towel man, and waitress service. The Spa is wonderful with various sauna's steam rooms, jacuzzi's and indoor and outdoor pools etc. There are three restaurants in the hotel ( during our stay each closed for 2 nights a week) The Oriental was our favorite, The Spanish was good, The Italian a little less so with an uninspiring room and uninspiring food. It must be said that "you don't go to Tenerife for the food" We ate out in the town on a number of occasions and whilst the restaurants were fair I could not rave about any of them. Breakfast is a large buffet with everything anyone might want so gets full marks from me. The staff at the hotel were superb and their are plenty so each is able to do their job in a calm and polite manner. The cleanliness is again first class. We had a room on the 3rd floor with balcony and views over the pool and the mount Tiede - This would be our choice if we returned because its high enough to be quiet and gets the sun on the balcony and in the room during the morning and daytime. We have been to Tenerife on a number of occasions but always to the south, For us, the north of the Island is now favorite. The weather may not be quite as dependable but the scenery is great and there is less of the "Brits abroad" feeling you get in the south.
