A truly spectacular hotel

We last stayed at the Botanico in 2007. So it was quite a surprise when we turned up in a taxi late in the evening in April 2016 when the doorman helped us out of the taxi, greeted us by name and “welcomed us back”! But one of the great features of the Botanico is the abundance of staff all of whom have been trained to be client aware and address any requests or needs. We stayed in a suite which was very spacious, well-furnished and equipped and had a generous balcony with a view to the sea. The Tenerife climate is a gardener’s dream and the hotel has taken full advantage of this with wonderfully designed and maintained grounds. The lake with its black swans, koi and carp and turtles is a special feature. And if that is not enough the spectacular Botanical Garden is just across the road. The hotel is justifiably proud of its sumptuous breakfast buffet. It has to be experienced to be believed. There are several good restaurants in the hotel to choose from. During our recent stay we opted to eat mainly outside of the hotel, but we did have dinner on one occasion in the “Oriental” restaurant. The food was good, if not quite outstanding. Service was surprisingly lax given the outstanding standard set by the rest of the hotel.
