Fantastic attention to detail and service!

My husband and I stayed in the hotel Botanico for 2 nights, on a half board basis to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. On arrial we were greeted warmly with a complimentary fruit cocktail. Our luggage arrived swiftly to our rooms and we were given a polite tour of the room facilities. The hotel is traditionally furnished, opulent and comfortable. The rooms were very well equipped, with a very large bed,TV and the usual amenities. The only criticism would be that there was no tea and coffee making facilties in the room. That said, I think this is usual for Spain and there was complementary fruit and sparkiling water, which was a nice touch. The hotel itself is set in beautiful gardens, which are tranquil and calming. I was delighted to see the beautiful pair of back swans and their sygnets on the pond. The buffet breakfast was extensive to say the least. Just about everything we could think of to accommodate a host of nationalities. Probably the best buffet breakfast I have encountered for many years. We ate at the pool side restaurant at lunch time which we enjoyed. In the eveings we ate at the Oriental rerstaruant the first night and the Spanish restaurant the second night. All were excellent. Whilst I am not normally a lover of oriental food, I did thoroughly enjoy the meal. Again, the service in both restaurants was second to none. We did not use the spa though we did look around it. It looked impressive and is open to guests. The hotel is situated a 10 minute walk from the coast. In fact it was nicely situated away form the hustle and bustle. On the day of our anniversary we returned to our room to find they had filled the room with rose petals, roses, complementary chocolates and sparling wine. What a surprise and beautifully done. The staff smiled and genuinely appeared happy to be working there. Nothing was too much trouble. They worked really hard to ensure we were comfortable and had every thing we needed. Very impressive staff! I think they are the measure of an exceptional hotel. As an ex employee of British Airways I have travelled the world staying in some of the most beautiful hotels, However, I think the Hotel Botanico is indeed exceptional and I can't wait to go back.
