Excellent Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 1 week in July with my family. Overall it was a great experience which I've summarised below. Restaurants I dined at the Italian and the Spanish restaurants. Both were brilliant, the Italian seemed to be more popular though i'm not sure why as the Spanish restaurant was just as lovely. The food in both was simply divine. I wasn't sure how i felt about a la carte rather than buffet but after one night i was completely at easy, the chef is truly brilliant. The service was outstanding every single waiter was friendly, polite and welcoming. I really cannot credit the staff enough! The pool bar service was again excellent, although the menu was a little limited. Spa The spa was world class in my opinion. The thermal circuit was excellent - sauna, aromatherapy room, ice room, Japanese dry room and a few others were very very relaxing. There are also several Jacuzzi's and and an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. The spa also was spotless and very impressive looking. Room The room was well decorated, spotless and spacious. There were several channels in English, a minibar which was well stocked, tubs of sweets, chocolates and nuts. The room was carpeted which is unusual for a Canaries hotel but it worked and made the room feel more homely. The first night I spent there (having been up since 3am travelling) I was kept up till the small hours by a very noisy function. I believe there was a charity event taking place that night 50 or so guest spilled out to the tables and chairs at the pool bar directly beneath my room where the exit from the bar hall leads to outside. They talked extremely loud making sleep impossible even with ear plugs! The patio doors felt a little flimsy and provided little in the way of sound protection. The next night there was a wedding on and the music was up ridiculously loud, again making sleep impossible till at least 12:35am. Even the next few nights with no events on i found the noise outside my room (other guests outside below being noisy - at one point till 2am) too much and asked to move room. This was done with no fuss and the reception staff were very efficient and friendly and spoke excellent English. I was moved room to the far end of the pool area away from the bar hall exit. It was much quieter here and the rest of my stay was peaceful. The guests outside didn't really do anything wrong per se, but i thing the hotel could definitely do with upgrading the patio doors to be more sound proof. It was a shame as this was the only negative thing, every thing else was perfect. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the the hotel. The entertainment was a fine, one night there were particularly excellent flamingo dancers. Free wifi which had a good signal. All of the staff were brilliant i couldn't fault anyone. Puerto de la Cruz is about a 20 min walk away downhill and the hotel offers a courtesy shuttle bus to the centre which always ran on time. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
