Wonderful holiday
Stayed at the Hotel Botanico in August 2016 with my husband and 18 year old son. It is situated in the Botanico Area of Puerto de la Cruz, near the Botanical Gardens, with a short bus ride or a pleasant downhill walk into the town. The trip back can be a bit arduous in the heat but taxis from the centre are cheap so we tended to walk down, returning on the bus in the day time and by taxi at night. The rooms were perfect being interconnected and with lots of space and a great view of the pool, gardens and Mount Teide beyond. On arrival there was fruit and water in the room and water is provided every day. What I really loved was that there was a second inner door to the room and blackout blinds on the balcony doors so that the constant light from the corridors doesn't seep into the room and the light doesn't filter through gaps in the curtains. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and the collection of Canarian art is fascinating. The gardens and Koi ponds are beautiful and a peaceful place to sit and read or relax. There are two pools, a family pool and a separate adults only pool in the spa area. Sunbeds were plentiful and always available. The pool and pool area are very clean. The breakfasts were amazing, so much choice and all of the restaurants served wonderful food. We booked bed and breakfast and chose a mix of eating both at the hotel and in the many good quality restaurants and planchas nearby. Our son took advantage of the golf and tennis lessons and really enjoyed them. The spa is amazing with many facilities included in the price of the hotel. You can also pay for many treatments. The gym is small but well equipped, the downside is the lack of air conditioning making everything very hard work in the August heat. The staff without exception were friendly and kind and very hard working. It was such a wonderful experience staying at the Hotel Botanico and we would love to return.
