Lovely Vacay

Location About an hour from the airport south. Whilst wondering around the area, we found out that there is another airport which was probably closer, airport north, so that's worth checking into if you consider this hotel. There is a free shuttle to and from the plaza, approx 5-10 min drive. Most of the time we took a cab at €4-5 one way. There is a good bus service and we took a bus to go to Las Teresitas beach, approx 1 hr 15 mins, using Google directions, got there as if we really knew our destination, one of the best things we did! The beach was busy but found 2 sun beds and umbrella for €9. Across the hotel are shopping places and some really good restaurants, Magnolia particularly, excellent, I reviewed separately. HOTEL There are 3 restaurants in the hotel and we tried the popular Oriental one. They recommend booking a day in advance, however we noticed it was never really packed with people. Food was really good and staff are attentive. There are plenty of good restaurants around the plaza or the ones just across the road from the hotel offering different types of cuisines at a much affordable price and we're glad we didn't pay for half board. Buffet lunch at the hotel set us back €38 each, not including drinks. It would have been convenient for us if they offered sandwiches, burgers etc to buy during lunch time rather than a buffet as we were never that hungry at lunch time. The spa is worth going back to. The thermal circuit was first class and the outdoor pool and jacuzzi beds are awesome. There are always sun beds available whatever time we went. And it's adults only which was very nice. Our bedroom was on a small side but well laid out and looking like needing a bit of upgrading. Shower small and over a bath, only 1 person at a time. The TV was temperamental, had to turn on and off several times to show pictures. For English channels, there were only BBC and ITV. Would be nice to have a movie channel at least, as although we didn't go here to watch movies, it's kinda nice to have something to watch while getting ready for a night out or before going to bed. There is no coffee /tea making facility which for us was a negative as would be nice to have hot tea first thing in morning or before settling in for the night without going back to the restaurant and pay. Very nice gardens surrounding the hotel and just across the road again is another beautiful garden called Jardin Botanico. Staff are lovely and special thank you to Suzanne who organised changing our bed with a softer mattress on the same day.
