Beautiful hotel and gardens.

We have just returned from a week spent at the hotel Botanico. Our stay was wonderful and the attention to detail in this hotel is just amazing. The room was lovely and we appreciated that our daily English newspaper was delivered there every morning.. We had BBC1, BBC2 and ITV, so we were able to keep up with our favourite programmes and we enjoyed the chocolate which came every night with the turn-down service.I found the bed a bit hard at first, but I soon got used to it and found the right combination of pillows from the pillow menu. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was excellent and very easy to use. It would have been nice to have tea-making equipment in the room without having to pay 7 euros a day for it - British hotels always provide this as standard. The daily hotel newsletter was also much appreciated. As for the gardens - well, they were just beautiful. I spoke to another couple who said that they were better than the actual Botanic garden over the road! We did start on a guided tour of the gardens with a very well-informed guide, but unfortunately it clashed with our welcome meeting, so we had to leave before the tour was finished, There were always sunbeds available by the pool, with comfortable mattresses and spotless white towels (two each, if you wanted them!) The Spa was just as lovely and much quieter, as no children were allowed. Also lots of sunbeds and spotless towels. I didn't swim in the outdoor pools, but the indoor pool in the spa is heated to 32 degrees, so I did have a swim in there. I also had a relaxing back massage and went to a Qi Gong class, both of which were excellent and the class was free. We went to the flamenco show in the hotel which was very entertaining The staff in the hotel were lovely and nothing was too much trouble - the receptionist kissed us both goodbye when we left! As an artist, I really appreciated the displays of work by Canarian painters on each floor of the hotel. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we hope to come back. There are lots of nice little restaurants in the area and we went to one in the nearby shopping centre called the Fu restaurant which served delicious and very reasonably priced food, and we also ate in the Mini-Golf restaurant just down the road which was also very reasonable with more delicious food -(I will have to start a diet as I have put on weight!) We met the manager at his welcome party and he was very charming and keen to make sure everything was fine during our stay.
