Lovely hotel and facilities.
In summary - a lovely hotel with a well-deserved excellent reputation. I had an excellent holiday end would probably go back. Just a few things which could be improved considering it's a 5 star hotel. On arrival I was greeted with a 'Welcome drink' which was a nice touch. I was given a spacious corner room which had a view of the pool and gardens and the Teide only if I went out onto my balcony. (Although I had paid more for a Teide or sea view.) As other people have reviewed, the breakfast was fantastic - lots of choice. The hotel and grounds were kept very well and the setting is very relaxing. I stayed for 6 days and didn't leave the premises except for a quick trip to the supermarket. I had a birthday during the trip and had a wonderful surprise in my room - card, flowers, cake, bottle of bubbly and chocolates. A really lovely gesture. The gardens and spa were lovely. Two pools, one by the spa was adult only. The other had a road directly behind so not always quiet, and the sun didn't appear there till late morning. The biggest downside for me was the saving of the sun beds in the spa area which was advertised as being 'not allowed' but no one enforced. If you wanted a sun bed you had to be there early and it felt stressful to even try. Towels were left on beds to reserve. If you wanted to take advantage of the exercise classes there was virtually no chance you could also get a sun bed afterwards. People saved sun beds with towels all day. I did manage to get a bed one day and a nearby couple who had their towels and books on their beds were not there more in an hour in the whole day. When I raised a concern with one of the staff at the spa, she was very dismissive and suggested I used the indoor spa instead which was just annoying. I opted for rom service breakfast on my last day and it didn't turn up and after chasing 3 times it finally arrived 5 mins before I had to leave for the airport. It was a shame because it made my last morning of a lovely holiday a bit stressful. I also ordered hot chocolate and what arrived was a packet of Nesquik and luke warm milk. Not what you expect in a 5 star hotel!
