Who cares about the birds!

We stayed for 10 days in January 2017. The staff and Hotel are pretty much the same as everyone else on here has already said so there's no need to say the same again. We sat in the garden on the first day with a cold beer or two. There were Collared Doves flying around the gardens some of which will come to the tables looking for crumbs, we fed them while we drank. One would actually take the food from my hand. Most would stay on the ground. We quite enjoyed the afternoon. Ate at the Thai restaurant at the Hotel the first night, very good Pad Thai, and Steak with noodles. We did find all the silver cutlery and plates odd as we're used to Thai being more like you would get it in Thailand, bowls and the like. At least they do give you chop sticks if you ask. The food was very good though, there were Thais in the kitchen. So after breakfast the next morning(also very good)we walk out into the gardens which are nicely done and there are birds everywhere, parrots, canaries and wagtails are common. We then find a trap for Collared Doves. One was trapped as we watched. We can only assume they are trapped and then killed! We asked later at reception about said trap, they knew nothing about it. We did not get any answer as to why they feel the need to trap the birds and I can't believe that they don't kill them. It has to be said that we put no more money into the Hotel but ate elsewhere and only went through the gardens on the last day to see that the trap was still there, Doves still being trapped. I found it pretty depressing bearing in mind we've been all over the world and a very big part of our holidays are the birds. It also turns out the owner of the Hotel also owns Loro Park. Anyone who's every been to Tenerife cannot fail to know about the Park, it is advertised absolutely everywhere. Surely you should be enjoying the birds not killing them!
