Beautiful hotel, greate service

We stayed at the Botanico for three nights just a week ago and will gladly return. While the hotel looks a bit dated on the photos, it really has more of a grand hotel atmosphere, as opposed to the boutique-like atmosphere of many of the newer houses. There are many green areas around the hotel which makes you feel like you are in an Oasis, considering that the hotel surrounding is rather touristy. We are in our late thirties, but thought we were one of the younger guests in the hotel (and also seemingly in Puerto de la Cruz). This is not a typical bring-your-toddler hotel. The breakfast buffet is great and plenty, the eggs are made fresh to order and the service was very friendly and professional. There is a smoker's area outside, so if you want to eat in a smoke-free environment, pay attention to that. The spa area is good, but not the best I've seen. The japanese (or as I know it finnish) sauna could use some rework, but it's still at the level of an upscale fitness club. There are minimum age requirements, which means no crying children. The gym has a basic free weights are and a couple of machines -- enough for the ambitious hobbyist -- or you can just go running around the hotel. All the hotel services that we used were to our satisfaction, the staff was very friendly and professional. Thank you for the pleasant experience.
