Hotel Botánico (2941)

Uncomfortable nights

We are coming to the end of our week here. I am writing this review at 04.00 because, as usual, it is impossible to sleep. The temperature in the room is 25.5 degrees, with the door to the balcony wide open. Door shut and it is 28 degrees and stuffy. Aircon on and it's 30 degrees. Reception tell us that at this time of the year aircon is switched off and the system is used to heat the rooms. Now, 30 degrees C might be cool for Canaries, but it is boiling for Brits. On the two occasions we have complained at reception, they have promised to sort it out, but nothing has happened. Sure, the breakfast variety is wonderful, the room is fine, with nice views of Mount Tiede (if you could see it for the low cloud) and my lady enjoyed her facials in the spa, but surely for €300 per night one might expect a good night's sleep.

Hotel Botánico

Dear Guest, first of all I would like to assure you and all the readers that we very much praise our guests' opinions and that their comfort and well-being are a must for us. We therefore apologize for the inconveniences you may have suffered. When you refered at the reception that the in-room temperature was too high for you, we immediatly informed you that, following the expressed wishes of the rest of our guests and due to the environmental temperature at this time of the year, we had the central heating on instead of the air conditionning. We therefore recommended you to switch off the system in order to prevent warm air to keep coming out and increasing the temperature in the room. This would have freshened up the room. Additionally, our staff offered you the possibility to move into a superior and larger room, which you declined. We offered you instead a complimentary dinner in our renowned and awarded restaurant The Oriental, with a value over £100, which we hope you have enjoyed. Our reception staff together with our PR Mrs. Susana Alba have been and are at your entire disposal as our aim is to offer our guests a throughout enjoyable and peaceful holiday and to guarantee your comfort and the fulfilment of your wishes and expectations. We deeply regret all the nuisances and trust that this will not prevent you from returning for a future and a more pleasant visit. Yours sincerely, Gustavo Escobar Hotel Director
