Very good hotel overall

There are many positives about the Botanico: the gardens are lovely and well kept; the staff are outstandingly helpful and welcoming; the room was perfectly ok. We were a bit disappointed with the restaurant (La Parrilla), which served boring Euro-food and which was really not worth the price. I would like to see a variety of fresh foods with a local flavour instead of apparently frozen produce e.g. the ubiquitous salmon. A variety of fresh vegetables would be good too. Breakfasts were very good. We ate out most days and there are several restaurants virtually across the road which, I suspect, do quite well from the Botanico's clientele. I recommend the Italian restaurant Arianna. The outside spa pool is pleasant but small and without a real deep end in which to swim. It wasn't particularly crowded when we were there but I suspect that it would be during busier periods. The indoor pool in the spa is again smallish. One annoying feature of both pools was that no one cleared used towels off the beds and sun loungers so one was left in doubt as to whether half the beds were in use or not. Overall, this hotel does a lot of things well and I would happily return.
