A weekend away to celebrate our anniversary
We stayed here for three nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This was our second stay at the hotel. We booked a standard room on a bed and breakfast basis. Our room was nicely decorated with a very comfy huge bed. The shower though small was great. There were slippers and bathrobes to use throughout the hotel. We ate in the pool bar every lunchtime and the food was lovely. We also ate in the Oriental and Parrilla grill restaurant. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment in the hall bar. This consisted of duets and bands. They played a mixture of Spanish and English music. We used the spa pool during the day as it is quieter as there is a no kids policy there. However we also used the main pool which was still quiet and enjoyable. We things that we really enjoyed about this hotel were 1. The service is brilliant in all areas of the hotel. We are seasoned travellers to 5 star hotels in the world and the service was excellent comparable to Asian or Caribbean 5star. 2. The spa area is lovely. When we arrived a member of staff (think her name was Pilar) welcomed us with a tour of the area. She really made us feel welcome. 3. We didn't tell the hotel it was our anniversary on our booking but mentioned it on the day as we wanted to book a nice table in the grill restaurant. When we arrived back to our room that night, we had a bottle of cava and a cake waiting for us which was a lovely touch. 4. The bar staff at the hall bar where brilliant and we also enjoyed their wine tasting nights. One thing which could be improved is the quality of the food for the prices. The food is extremely expensive for what you get. We don't mind paying expensive prices but we felt they were a touch too much. Perhaps 2-3euros too expensive. There was a wedding on one night that didn't stop until 6 in the morning. It didn't annoy us until I opened the window in the middle of the night (as we don't like air con) but I wouldn't have liked to be nearer to it. This is a lovely hotel that is definitely worth a visit. We had a brilliant time and will definitely return again to enjoy another special time like Christmas.
