Second visit, hope to come back again ...

We first stayed here two years ago and returned to find that nothing much had changed; except we noticed that the wi-fi seemed a little better. The staff are wonderful - friendly and helpful, working hard to make your stay great. The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean, if a little dated now. The whole place could probably do with a refresh of the decor - it is as other reviewers have pointed out - in a 70s/80s style and does look a little jaded. That being said the gardens are lovely and the Spa is still nice - and included in the room price (you have to pay separately for treatments). The breakfast is legendary and you can get carried away because there is so much variety. The clientele are mostly mature people and couples - very few children. One of the best things about the place is the artwork - really worth a look around the hotel to see all of the pictures. The area where the hotel is situated is nice - near to the Botanical gardens and with lots of reasonably-priced restaurants around. We walked into town most nights for dinner (although the walk back is very steep - the hotel has a shuttle bus or take a taxi if it just feels too much!). All in all a good stay in an old-fashioned hotel and we hope to return again.
