Hotel Botánico (2941)

A hotel of the highest standards.

From the moment you arrive at the immaculate Hotel Botanico you enter a world dedicated to your relaxation and enjoyment. Unlike many hotels I have been to every member of staff seems genuinely to want you to enjoy your stay and it is 'hats off' to the team who recruit and train them as everyone my daughter, grand daughter and I came in contact with was just so lovely. There are many chic, minimalist, design led hotels around the world, but not many that can reach the level of service given by this one. Other reviews have commented on the décor, but I felt it a privilege to be able to share in the wonderful art and porcelain collection that fills the hotel. On entering you are greeted by a magnificent foyer, but this space and attention to detail does not, in like so many other hotels, diminish as you go to your room. No cramped corridors, landings and lift areas here. Every landing had seating areas, books - including a wonderful collection on art and places to relax. There was even an area where international football could be watched, so nothing stuffy here. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable and two interconnecting ones meant that the 5 year old could be sleeping whilst we enjoyed a drink and chat on the balcony overlooking the Italian restaurant, where we ate one evening, The meal was lovely, well served in delightful surroundings and cost no more than the rather inferior, cold offering of our UK airport hotel. What is easy to forget, when you are looking at value for money is that you get far more than the hotel, you get access 8am - 8pm to a blissful spa which in UK would cost at least £80.00 per person. Swimming pools, a wonderful hot and cold circuit and best of all, heated water beds to totally relax you - I dare anyone to stay awake for long wrapped in your snuggly white dressing gown, courtesy of the hotel. We had massage treatments and they were wonderful. If you have children all this can be yours as the lovely, simple holiday club is so near the spa you can pop back and check if you wish. Even though, on two occasions, the 5 year old was the only one there she begged to go loved it as the whole team were so kind. The gardens at the hotel are a pleasure and, in fact, far more beautiful than the Botanical Gardens across the road - tip - if you visit the Botanical Gardens, do not wear, as I did white trousers. They will get splashed with mud if they have been watering. Breakfast in the hotel is amazing where every possible taste is catered for, including a good selection of Gluten free goodies. The waiting staff are constantly on hand clearing and bringing drinks and there is no rush to vacate your table. You can also select to eat inside or outside by the pool. The same area is used for lunch. Both times we used it the food was delicious. There are a super restaurants just outside the hotel if you want to eat out and not travel too far, but the staff will give recommendations should you wish. There are also a couple of supermarkets and you have a fridge in your room to no problems if you want to have a snack supply. The main pool was a little on the chilly side towards the end of our week - around 25C - but this did not stop the 5 year old at all. In fact she ended the week being confident to jump in the deep end. The spa polls were much warmer as I noted 31C one day. The cleanliness and maintenance standards at Botanico are 100% with everywhere being kept immaculate - special mention must go to the gardening team as the outside surrounds are wonderful with everywhere being kept green with the use of reclaimed water. The pool bar also provides a wonderful Negroni. All the staff are delightful, but special mention must go to our lovely 'turn down' lady, Mohammed, on the door and Susana Alba, the guest liaison. All true professionals in the hospitality industry. The gardening team were also lovely and worked so hard to create such a beautiful environment. This hotel is one of standards and there seems to be an unspoken rule with guests that everyone behaves with courtesy and respect. There is a real mix of nationalities, but an air of courtesy prevails. If your idea of a family hotel is one with watersides and play parks, this is not for you. However it is definitely family friendly with a children's menu and children being given a lovely welcome. Thank you to the Manager and his team for giving us such a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
