Delightful - was all set to move in!
Meant to post this review months ago..... My sis and I spent a week here and we loved it from the moment we walked through the door. The service was excellent, everyone very helpful and polite. We were given juice when we arrived and Antonio took our bags to our room and gave us a wee tour. The room was very nice, some other reviews said it was dated but we felt it was very in keeping with the style of hotel as super modern/contemporary would have looked out of place. The bathroom was very nice, clean and they always refilled our toiletries. The turn down service at night with the wee chocolate was a nice touch. Breakfast was amazing, so much choice! You couldn't want for anything! We had lunch by the pool a couple of days which was very nice - a variety of different dishes available. Dinner - we only ate in the hotel once, in the Italian restaurant. The service was good and it was nice to sit out with lovely views. The food was very nice, although quite small portions for the price you pay. We only ate in the hotel once because the options for someone who doesn't eat meat or shellfish were very limited in the other two restaurants (they may have been happy to make more vegetarian options but we didn't ask). There are a multitude of restaurants on the road across from the hotel which are better value for money. The gardens are lovely and very nice for a stroll - lots of different birds to see and the ponds are good for watching the wee terrapins :) We went in the spa nearly every day - it was never too busy and we could always get in the rooms that we wanted. As stated in other reviews, on occasion the jacuzzis could have done with being a bit warmer but it was August and you are already warm so it wasn't an issue it was still nice. A number of other reviews stated most guests were older so we weren't sure what to expect, but we found a good mix of age ranges. A number of families playing by the pool, lots of young couples and several single people on their own. When you are at the Botanico make sure you visit Loro Parque (go by the wee train) - we spent the best part of a day there - really good day out. We took a bus tour to Mount Tiede but if you are happy to hire a car I would recommend you do that instead as the amount of time we had on Tiede was not long enough. I think your cable car ticket may have a time limit but we were limited by our bus tour - felt slightly dis-organised yet they do this every day. A lovely hotel that I will definitely visit again.
