Relaxing

I know people have commented on how dated the hotel is but I would say more shabby chic luxury. Yes it’s not modern but it is a really lovely hotel, well kept with excellent staff from cleaners to the bar and reception. The breakfast is amazing, I’ve been to plenty of 5* hotels around the world and I can’t understand why people are criticising the breakfast, it’s really the business! The spa is amazing, never seen a hotel spa like it, if you like a spa this is the best you’ve going to get in Europe - seriously. I am extremely fussy about hotels and I haven’t found anything to complain about. Yes the shower cubicle is a bit small but it’s got a rain shower, hand shower and lower shower! There’s a separate bath and two sinks. The botanical gardens around the hotel grounds are astounding and obviously very well looked after. From koi carp, terrapins, black swans, ducks, bonsai trees, fountains, banana trees- make sure you look around the grounds to take it all in. The main pool is lovely and had no problem getting a sunbed, the spa pool is so peaceful too (only over 16s in the spa area). There’s a kids club, haven’t tried it yet, but it’s next door to the spa if you have kids and want to get some adult time. Haven’t tried the restaurants in the hotel apart front the pool bar which was excellent. The inside bar is cosy, kids allowed, nice to chill with comfy seats, entertainment geared more for older clientele but still good to chill out in after going out for dinner. Lovely bar staff. There’s pool/snooker tables and a tv room, WiFi seems ok. It’s walking distance to the town centre at the beach but not for the faint hearted walking back up however there are Taxi ranks and it’s only 5 euros. The hotel also has a free bus throughout the day, ask at reception and they have a timetable (photo of timetable included). There are some really nice restaurants right outside the hotel if you don’t fancy venturing far. If you go out the hotel and turn left there is a supermarket a couple of mins away and some nice shops and cafes. We are a party of 2 adults and kids aged 9, 16 & 17 and we’ve all loved it here.
