Not as good as advertised

A recent construction in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and well advertised to tourists and locals alike, we decided to take a look. There are some exceptional huge exhibition tanks granting visitors very close up views, especially some indented viewing bubbles which allow visitors to feel they are in the tanks aswell as viewing the creatures from many points of view rather than just behind a flat piece of glass. As scuba divers we didn't experience the buzz that some other visitors did, viewing creatures in a tank doesn't come near to the experience of swimming with them in their wild environment. Adverts within explain they are associated with various wildlife preservation groups but considering we are in the Canary islands, there are very few native species represented, No angel sharks, octopus, cuttlefish or the canarian armoured lobster. A lot of effort has been put into the appearance of the exhibits, trying to make them appear realistic and not just tanks. Several landscaped surface areas exist which could be used to house animals, the whole exhibit is enclosed so could be adapted to enclose an aviary, these 2 ideas would give a more biosphere appearance.
