Magnificent

Although this hotel is stunning, it’s probably the staff who make it truly 5 star. All are friendly, efficient and eager to please. The hotel itself is beautifully kept with traditional decor and fresh flowers everywhere. Set in glorious gardens across the road from the Botanical Gardens in the La Paz area of Puerto de la Cruz, the rooms are luxurious. We stayed in an Ambassador Suite which is a larger room with a double sea view balcony, a dressing room and comfortable seating area separate from the gigantic double bed (actually two large single beds joined together). There was a fresh flower display, a bottle of wine, water, a fruit bowl and an invite to welcome cocktails in our room on our arrival. The bedding and towels are pristine white and changed daily with a turn down service every evening. Bottled water is provided daily. The rooms are spotlessly clean and have large flat screen TVs with dozens of channels including BBC 1, 2 and ITV. Breakfast is served buffet style and the selection is fantastic.....or you can have a continental style breakfast delivered to your room. The Oriental Spa is first class. We used the gym most mornings (if I was asking for anything to be improved it would be a few more pieces of equipment eg cross trainers). There are daily fitness classes and the Spa itself opens from 8am - 8pm. Although the indoor spa circuit is fab with an aroma room, Turkish room, sauna and more, my favourite was the outdoor jacuzzi in the cave! There are loads of sun beds outside around the pool and outside jacuzzi too. The hotel does have regular evening entertainment and the Flamenco dancers are not to be missed. That said, the La Paz area has lots of bars and restaurants if you don’t want to stay in the hotel (although the cocktails and drinks are generous and reasonably priced and the hotel lounge bar is smart and comfortable). There are always taxis sitting outside the hotel if you don’t fancy the walk down into the centre of the town where more bars, restaurants and entertainment are available. This is definitely the place to go if you want a luxurious, relaxing holiday in the sun.
