Luxury but informal

We chose this as we wanted 5* in a quiet location. Also the spa with an indoor pool was a draw in case the weather wasn't good. It exceeded our expectations all the staff were helpful and happy. The spa was fabulous with so many facilities and we even took part in some of the classes (these were extra for us at €15 a time for the Aquagym). The weather in the North we'd been warned can be cloudy but we had 22C and sun all week so used one of the two large outdoor pools every day. Lots of sun beds. You get used to lots of people walking around in lovely hotel bathrobes as the spa is well used and ranked the best in Europe 2019 by Johanssens. We like to eat out but used the hotel's Spanish and Thai restaurants which had great service and food but not cheap at around €90 for two with drinks - still we were glad we ate in to experience these places. Our only complaint was that whilst you can choose from a menu of pillows - we found that they didn't have one as firm as we'd like - not a big deal. We will definitely return. We didn't even get to look around the extensive gardens.
