Solid, quality choice

Look The Botanico isn’t going to tear up any trees. It’s old skool in a comfy, cosy way like staying with a favourite aunt. Nothing is exceptional but everything just works very well. Family rooms were well decorated and - yes - comfy. Beds were brilliant. Bathrooms marble. Balcony nice view. Breakfast was a decent enough spread though not as good as when we last visited. The gardens were gorgeous and there were always lots of spaces by the pool, including cabanas. Table tennis for the kids and a seriously lovely pool and library room which was phenomenal. Staff were friendly and nothing too much trouble. Babysitting was expensive but great. Area is a bit of meh. I like Puerto but the vicinity is a bit drab, it’s a fair walk from the centre and there aren’t many great restaurants nearby. Taxis easy though and the Thai restaurant in the hotel is excellent - far better than the much better rated Botanico Thai in Playa las Americas.
