Beautiful hotel in Tenerife

We have just returned from a week’s stay at Hotel Botanico in Tenerife, our first visit to the island and what a fabulous place to spend the Christmas holiday! The hotel is very comfortable and elegant with beautiful gardens set just a 25 minute walk from central Puerto de la Cruz. The hotel has a superb staff, everyone was really friendly and ready to help with our requests from hiring a car to booking restaurants and taxis and even arranging our fit to fly Covid test for our return flight. We had an Ambassador suite with garden view. The suite was very large with sitting area, bedroom, dressing room and bathroom with bath and separate shower. Our balcony had a beautiful view and caught the morning sun so was the perfect spot to sit with a morning coffee enjoying the view and the warm weather. The breakfast buffet had a large choice of excellent hot and cold dishes and tables inside and out. Our last night was New Year’s Eve and the annual gala dinner at the hotel was included in our rate. Despite the Covid restrictions and the necessary altered arrangements for the event (no champagne reception and guests seated across the restaurants instead of in one larger room) the evening was a huge success and clearly a lot of effort had gone into creating a special time for everyone. The only reasons we haven’t given five stars are because the Italian restaurant, Papagallo, is a little dated and was a slightly disappointing first evening for us and we would have liked some quieter relaxing areas with sun loungers in the extensive gardens away from the pool where young children tended to dominate making it less peaceful and appealing for us. Although children are not allowed in the spa gardens the main gardens are larger and more beautiful. But nonetheless we wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend this hotel.
