Poema del Mar (1334)

Best Aquarium We’ve Ever Seen

I have loved aquariums since I was small, so have been to many— but this is the best I have seen by a mile. The aquarium is huge with a brilliant, broad range of animals. What is really impressive is the thought and detail in the design of the habitats- the extra effort they have gone to here is really noticeable, and you will be jealous of whoever gets the opportunity to landscape these tanks! The jungle section is incredibly impressive, with a range of ginormous real and high-quality faux plants, that result in a really immersive experience. The pinnacle of the experience is of course the panoramic tank: I have never seen something so impressive. I read this is the largest aquarium window in the world and does not distort the size of the fish inside which is amazing. You can really appreciate the size of each animal, and the Perspex has such a high quality transparency that I felt it wasn’t there: you will never see fish in such detail anywhere else. I love that they feature scale models of prehistoric sealife with information, and the exhibition of different materials and how long they take to decompose in the sea, it was very educational. I’d also noted that several times I saw divers who appeared to be cleaning sand and gravel in the tanks using a suction device. Safe to say this sort of attention to care is why all the animals here seemed to be happy and thriving. A 10/10 experience I would recommend to anyone.
