Lovely hotel for couples or older families.
I would just like to first point out that my rating is largely down to the experience I received as a young family going to this hotel and I believe had my husband and I of stayed on our own I think it would have been much nicer. We stayed for a little over 2 weeks and we have a toddler and an older baby. We were greeted at hotel wonderfully and check in was easy but we were given virtually no information on the hotel, it’s facilities or events etc. On our third day we saw the public relations desk and got lots of info such as which pools the kids were allowed in, what attractions were around, restaurant times and evening tasting events that the hotel put on (all of which is useful to be given this information at check-in). Our room was lovely and large, we had a family suite which was two interlocking rooms. They were always cleaned to an exceptional standard and the maids were really nice. The grounds of the hotel are really lovely, the botanical garden was so calming and has some big koi carp that the groundskeepers kindly allowed my toddler to feed on many occasions. It’s a 5-10 minute shuttle bus (that the hotel provides for free) down to the sea/centre. The biggest plus that this hotel can pride itself on is the staff, they are all so wonderfully friendly and welcoming and every single one of them is a credit to the hotel. Although the hotel lists itself as family friendly I personally wouldn’t stay again with my children as young as they are. I think if my children were 4-5 years older it would have been a nicer stay but the hotel felt a bit austere and this wasn’t at the fault of the hotel but more it’s clientele who you just felt did not want children around them when they were staying at a 5* LHW hotel. The only two negatives I have of the hotel are that the food is definitely not that of a 5* hotel and is very very overpriced. Room service food is pretty bad although always served by a very nice member of staff and trays were not left for long before being collected. The Oriental restaurant food was actually really nice but so expensive for quite small serving sizes. Secondly, on Saturday nights (and we were there for 3) there is some kind of loud music/dance thing that went on for FAR too long. I was pulling my hair out when it was still going on at 11.30/midnight. I should not be laying in a bed that we have paid several hundreds of euros a night for, stressed and angry and trying to get a baby to sleep through the noise.
