Impressive gardens and views

Just returned from a lovely week at the Hotel Botanico. We stayed in a Junior Ambassador Suite which was spacious and well equipped, a comfortable bed and with fabulous views over the town and out to sea. The gardens are gorgeous and the pool area is also very good, we could always get a sun bed and usually a cabana. The pool bar was a little too formal for my taste, I’d prefer a more relaxed vibe around the pool and it would be good if there was sun bed drinks service in a hotel of this standard. It happened occasionally but not consistently. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Shuttle bus into the centre of Puerto de la Cruz is a nice touch as it’s a good walk to the centre and uphill on the way back; taxis are only €4 if it’s too hot to walk. Breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful but the coffee generally is awful, I’d hope for better (stronger) and would also have liked a non dairy milk alternative for cereal. We didn’t eat in the hotel restaurants or use the spa but the cocktails are recommended! There are restaurants and a supermarket nearby and it was lovely to be so close to the Botanical Gardens which we visited several times.
