Very interesting aquarium!

I was staying in Maspalomas when I visited Poema del Mar Aquarium. I took a bus ride from my hotel to the main bus station in Las Palmas and boarded another bus which dropped me off around a 5 minute walk away from the building. Upon arrival, I did have issues checking in as the aquarium could only authorise your booking using a PDF which pops up at the time of purchase. I took a screenshot of the QR code on the PDF, which was deemed invalid and was told I could not enter, despite presenting my details and a booking reference number. After around 15 minutes, I managed to find a copy of the PDF document in my Junk folder. If you decide to book tickets using the Poema del Mar website, ensure you save a copy of the PDF document, as staff are not willing to admit you without this. The aquarium itself had plenty of different animals to view, which were split up into 3 different ‘environments’. The first section of the aquarium is jungle themed and the second is tropical themed. The aquarium is split into 3 levels and there is a path to follow to reach each different area. Each tank/area had an interactive tablet which provided different facts about each of the animals (in English, Spanish and German). At the midpoint of the building, there is a snack bar which sells drinks, pizzas and hot dogs. The cafe overlooked the big cylinder tank full of different fish. Further on, there is a restaurant which serves larger meals, which overlooks a large tank in the shape of a tunnel. The food within the aquarium was very expensive and I would recommend that you bring lunch with you or eat before visiting. There is a shopping centre with restaurants around 2 minutes away, which would be a lot cheaper than the meals within the aquarium. At the end of the tour, there was a large panoramic tank and seats had been set out, enabling you to sit and watch the animals (this is where the sharks were). To leave the building, you had to walk through the gift shop. I would definitely visit Poema del Mar Aquarium again and would recommend to anyone else visiting GC!
