Superb hotel

My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Botanica for 9 nights during a 10-day holiday in Tenerife. The hotel is located on the main road leading into Puerto de la Cruz and has just celebrated its 50th anniversary. We found it to be an extremely good hotel. The décor is Asian with Thai and Chinese furniture, sculptures and decorations. Our room was clean and comfortable with all the necessary features, such as a safe, fridge, balcony, large wardrobe, a desk, complimentary water, a kettle with tea and coffee and a decent sized bathroom with double sinks and bidet. The super king bed was clean and comfortable. The cleaning staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had complimentary spa tickets and visited several times. There were several different heated rooms (including a sauna) around the indoor pool that are very unusual and each one is worth visiting. Although there are a couple of outdoor pools, as it was early March, we gave these a miss. The extensive gardens surrounding the hotel are beautiful and definitely worth a tour. There is also a private, secure car park. The breakfasts were excellent with a massive choice of food and plenty of helpful staff and chefs. The hotel has four restaurants. We ate dinner in the Thai restaurant, which is beautifully decorated and served authentic food. However, on other nights we ate at the Italian restaurant across the road, which served a wide range of excellent pizzas, superb grills, pastas and salads. We walked into the town centre to view the various sites, including the historical port area. There are also regular buses into town and a complimentary hotel shuttle. Next door to the hotel, is a large supermarket for extras, such as milk and drinks. Also opposite the hotel are the large botanical gardens. These are over 150 years old and a ‘must see’. Overall, an excellent hotel with wonderful, helpful staff. Highly recommended.
